What is a Eucharist Service?
During a Eucharist Service we express our unity and thanks. Using the symbols of bread and wine we recall Jesus’ words at the Last Supper. We pray the Lord’s Prayer, and share Holy Communion. All are welcome at a Eucharist Service. At Stonnington Community the degree of participation and involvement is completely up to each individual.
How does the Lunch Work?
The lunch is held in the hall immediately after the Eucharist Service. Tables and chairs are set up, and we all bring a main, dessert or nibbles to share at the buffet table. We eat together and share each other’s company. There is a well-equipped kitchen available for heating food, and for the making of tea and coffee.
What happens at a regular Sunday Service?
At the moment, we have what is known as a “supply minister” who leads our Sunday Services. Our long-term minister Greg Crowe has moved on to a new vocational calling and will be greatly missed. We are seeking a new Minister and we are using this time wisely to reflect and evaluate our pathway forward.
Our services do have structure, but we have long left behind the traditional church service. We have interactive services, and more flexibility in the choices of words and narratives. Music is important in our services, thanks to the Choir and Ensemble. We blend traditional hymns, contemporary tunes and modern words that better reflect our modern theology.
How does Morning Tea Work?
Morning Tea is held in the Hall adjacent to the main church. Our refurbished kitchen and our rostered parishioners turn out a very nice hot tea or coffee.
We believe in being a safe and non-intrusive space for all people. In whatever way you would like to be part of our community, you are welcome.
What is Cafe Church?
Cafe Church is held in the Church on the fifth Sunday of the month (there aren’t many 5th Sundays, so we like to do something different). People sit around tables and enjoy morning tea (provided) while listening to a conversation between the minister and a guest. You are welcome.
